SHORTBOARDS

   Board Features:

  • Wide Shortboard Style Nose:                                                                                                                 Gives you better stability than a thinner nose, but really helps you turn on the wave face creating more mobility and liveliness than the round nose. Slight beak adds volume for paddling.

  • Flat Rocker:                                                                                                                                                        The low rocker in this board keeps you floating right on top of the water line making sure you paddle easily into waves without pushing to much water.  Great for catching those smaller waves.

  • Added Width:                                                                                                                                              The extra width in the mid section has been pushed two thirds of the way up the board centering it right under where you lye. Allows for easy paddling, enhanced stability, early wave catching and helps maintain planing speed through flat sections.

  • Performance rail:                                                                                                                                       Hard rails in the tail and nose area creates great hold in the wave and allows you to project out of your bottom turns. .

  • Single to double concave:                                                                                                                           This bottom contour is popular with most modern shortboards today. It keeps the water moving underneath the board and makes it fast while giving it that loose feel.

  • Squash tail:                                                                                                                                                    An adaptation of the square tail it allows the water to fan out across the flat section giving you acceleration. But, unlike a traditional square tail it holds the rail in the wave face more like a pin tail.

  • Fin Set Up:                                                                                                                                                   This board comes as a five fin set up. Offering 3 fin (thruster), quad and twin fin. Fins are Fcs1 or  Fcs2 on PU boards.

  • Construction:                                                                                                                                                 The Hybrid comes in PU and is the traditional construction of closed cell foam, stringer, fibreglass and polyster resin. Custom option is not usually available.

  • Cloth:                                                                                                                                                                All boards feature 1 x 6oz + 1 x 4ozglass on deck and double 4oz  underneath. With custom build we can add layers or change weights.

The Hybrid is the perfect step down shortboard for those coming off mini mals and wanting to get a foot in the door of the shortboarding world.

It is also a great board for those struggling with catching waves on there current shortboard. It is basically a cut and shut job. Originally designed as a colab with Nigel Simmens. We combined the wave catching and stability of a minimal with the profile and rails of a shortboard.

The resulting board is forgiving yet very maneuverable. Allowing you to experience those shortboard style features without totally lowering your wave count. It also gets you into learning how to duck dive correctly which makes paddling out so much easier.

"Quite simply, to keep the learning curve short. You are only as good as your wave count"

This board paddles fast but, keeps a nice lowish rail for hold in the steeper section of the wave. Lastly we put a staged rocker through the whole shortboard keeping it flat at the rear and introducing a higher nose rocker than the mini mal increasing the turning angle giving you smoother turning. The underside features a standard shortboard style single to double concave to keep the board fast and free.

The Hybrid comes in the following sizes 6'4, 6'6, 6'8, 6'10 and 7'2.

Available in both off the shelf and as custom builds.

Just took my new 7' out for the first time, in crappy conditions. It felt great under my feet which was a surprise as this was my first go on a shortboard. I caught everything I went for. Soooo happy!!
